He was one day off, but there was no way I was going to tell him that.
I've been kind of having a personal pity party lately with all the strangness going on in my corner of the world, despite my best efforts to do otherwise. But when a 99 year old (well, almost, he'll be 99 on December 3rd) man calls you and starts the phone conversation by singing at the top of his lungs and then says "Peachy, I hope you have as many Happy Birthdays as your old Gramps has had and that you feel as good when you're my age too!" (Gramps calls all of his grandkids "Peachy")
Gramps doesn't hear as well as he used to so he doesn't use the phone that much, other than to check in with my mom to make sure his appointments are covered and such, so a phone call from him is a special occasion all by itself. But to be serenaded too!
Well, heck, how can you help but smile and feel like maybe all WILL BE okay with the world?
